Sozanne was awarded a ~90k equipment supplement for her NIH R01 grant (3R01GM144578-02S1). A brand-new Vitrobot V plunge-freezer for preparation of sample grids for cryo-electron microscopy is on the way to our lab! We thank the NIH for their continued support.

Today is the day for Xiaoxin Zhao, soon-to-be PHD 's graduation walk. Xiaoxin has been very productive and has a bright career ahead of her.

Our collaborative paper with the Vallee lab that investigates BicD2 mutations that cause neuromuscular diseases was published in Plos Genetics. The first author is Julie Yi from the Vallee lab. Our graduate students Xiaoxin Zhao and Crystal Noell are co-authors and Sozanne is a corresponding author. Congratulations to all authors!

Our collaborative paper coil-to-alpha-helix transition at the Nup358-BicD2 interface activates BicD2 for dynein recruitment was published in eLife! Sozanne has used her Sabbatical for Research Training in neuroscience, brain development and cell biology as a temporary member of the lab of Prof. Dr. Richard Vallee in the department of Pathology at Columbia University. She was appointed as Visiting Associate Professor in Pathology at Columbia University.

Sozanne's proposal NCCAT-TP1-SS210331was funded for the time period of (09/15/21 – 05/15/22) . This allows her to use her Sabbatical to complete the rigorous embedded cross-training program in single-particle cryo-EM with Dr. Bridget Carragher and Dr. Clint Potter at the National NIH Center for Cryo-EM Access and Training (NCCAT).
